Ingredients
- 2 Cups of Flour
- 1 Tablespoons of Baking Powder
- 1 Teaspoon of Salt
- ½ Teaspoon of Sugar
- 1 Cup of Milk (2% or higher)
- 1/2 Cup of Shortening
- ¼ Cup Butter (softened not melted)
- 1 Teaspoon of Honey
- 3 Teaspoons of Butter- (melted)
Instructions
- Mix all dry ingredients together in a bowl (flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar).
- Add the shortening and ¼ soft butter in, using 2 knives (slice it into the flour mixture, don’t mix with a spoon). It should still be dry and clumpy.
- Add the milk to mixture ¼ cup at a time and incorporate.
- Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and sprinkle more flour on top. Form into a large bowl and knead 5-7 times.
- Roll the dough into a long snake-like shape and cut 2-1/2 ” thick
- Place biscuits on a sheet pan with a silicone mat or parchment paper cook for 15 minutes.
- When you take the biscuits out of the oven, brush melted butter over the top of each one and then drizzle the honey.
