Amalia’s Authentic Italian Restaurant

Amalia’s opened in 2018 in this beautiful victorian house right on Rte 1A in Wake Forest.  At the time there was much speculation if they would survive, much less thrive in this little town  just north of Raleigh.

Then the pandemic hit and we feared for their chances of coming back. But they did and made it appear as if they never missed a beat. Kudus to Amalia’s owners and management.

Amalia’s is a special experience starting with the warm and cozy atmosphere. It is formal, quiet dining – something I miss in this area. It seems like almost every dining option in the area these days is family style or is a sports bar.

Amailas is the perfect choice for a date night or special occasion.

We dined here for our anniversary and we were not disappointed. We arrived just as they were opening and had a cocktail at their little bar. It literally only has a few stools. We chatted with the bartender who made us both fantastic cocktails.

Entering the dining room was like walking into a high end European restaurant. Heavy fabric printed curtains adorned the windows.

The tables were dressed in white table linens with gold accented plates. with each piece of flatware laid out in perfect symmetry.

The room was dimly lit by candlelight. The wait staff was smartly dressed in white shirts with ties.

A huge selection of  wine for every taste and wallet. Most of the wines are from Italy, with a few French bottles.

Amelia’s wine list includes Chardonnay from Puglia, Chianti from Tuscany,  Montepulciano from Abruzzo along with Barolo, Barbaresco, and Ripasso.

The food was divine, we were served a little homemade focaccia bread and some bread sticks, Grissini while we perused the menu. We started with a cheese plate ,Tagliere Di Formaggi and moved on to a meatball dish, Polpette. They were perfectly tender and seasoned with just enough garlic to make you want to take another bite.

Their menu changes seasonally and the steak option is selected by the chef. Whether you are looking for a seafood option, pasta dish, or dinner where the meat is the star. You will find it here in true authentic Italian style.

We give Amalia’s  4.75 hearts out of 5
