Traditional Cosmopolitan

A Cosmo is great girlie girl martini. It pairs especially well with sushi. It compliments the fish and cleanses my palate. The ginger and wasabi go well with the lime and orange and cranberry flavors.

Equipment

  • 1 Cocktail Shaker
  • 2 Martini Glasses
  • 1 Jigger for measuring
  • 1 Measuring cup

Ingredients

  • 1.5 Oz Vodka We prefer Grey Goose
  • .5 Oz Cointreau
  • 1/8 Lime Fresh Squeezed
  • .5 Ounces Cranberry Juice Chilled
  • .5 Ounce Simple Syrup Optional
  • Lemon or lime peel for garnish

Simple Syrup

  • 1/2 Cup Sugar We use 1/4 cup sugar and 1/4 Stevia
  • 1/2 Cup Water

Instructions

Simple Syrup

  • Make your simple syrup first as you will want to chill it before using
  • Add the sugar and water into a small pot
  • Boil the mixture for 5 minutes
  • Fill a large bowl with ice water
  • Place the pot into the ice water to chill a minimum of 10 minutes
  • Remove the syrup to a measuring cup

The Cosmopolitan

  • Gather your ingredients
  • Fill your shaker with ice
  • Fill your martini glass with ice and water
  • Measure the vodka and pour into the shaker
  • Measure and pour the simple syrup into the shaker
  • Measure and pour the Cointreau into the shaker
  • Shake it all together
  • Dump the ice and water from the chilled glass
  • (Optional) If you plan to rim the glass with sugar now is the time to do so, simply rub some lime or lemon on the rim . Dip it in some sugar or you can rim it with simple syrup and then dip it in some powdered lime or lemon gelatin.
  • Fill the glass 3/4 of the way with the shaken mixture and
  • Slowly add the chilled cranberry juice until you reach the perfect shade of pink
  • Stir and taste
  • Add your peel for garnish and aromatics

Notes

You can make the simple syrup ahead and place in the refrigerator keeps for up to one month if made in the proper ratio and kept in an airtight container.
