Make the Simple Syrup 1 day ahead so that it has time to cool Basis Simple Syrup is 1/2 cup of sugar and 1 half cup of water brought to a boil until sugar dissolves. Remove from stove and steep the half of the fresh basil leaves in the syrup for 15-20 minutes. Fish them out and refrigerate the syrup. You will have enough simple syrup for another cocktail.
