Real Vanilla Extract Homemade
All your baking recipes call for vanilla extract and we even put it in our smoothies! Make your own homemade vanilla extract with only 2 ingredients. It is so easy and keeps for a long time. All you need is some vanilla beans ( we wait until they go on sale and and freeze them until we are ready to use them) and an inexpensive bottle of vodka. Note: The proof of the alcohol does matter! - 4 Vanilla Beans split
- 750 ML Vodka 80 Proof or higher
Gather your ingredients
Pour the vodka into your jar (we like to use Mason jars)
Split the vanilla pods in two.
Scoop out the tiny inner seeds
Add them to the Vodka in your glass container
Make sure your beans are covered completely
Seal tight
Wait for 45 days to taste.
You can leave the beans in after that or remove them, it’s a matter of preference.
Store in an airtight container in a dark place like a cupboard or pantry no refrigeration needed
