Equipment

  • 1 Kitchenaid Mixer

Ingredients

  • 8 Oz Cream Cheese
  • 1.5 Cups Butter
  • 1 Tbs Vanilla Extract
  • 7 Cups Powdered Sugar

Instructions

  • Bring the cream cheese and butter up to room temperature (2 hours max)
  • Add to your stand mixer along with the vanilla
  • Slowly add the powdered sugar 1 cup at a time on low speed
  • If frosting appears to thick add 1 Tbsp Heavy Cream if too thin add 1/4 cup of additional powdered sugar
  • Place into the refrigerator and cover until your cake is cooled
  • Chill cake before frosting

Notes

This should yield enough frosting for two  8-inch cakes
Tip: You can make this frosting ahead of time and simply frost the day you make the cake. A cake with cream cheese frosting should stay in the refrigerator until about an hour before serving.
