- 8 Oz Cream Cheese
- 1.5 Cups Butter
- 1 Tbs Vanilla Extract
- 7 Cups Powdered Sugar
Bring the cream cheese and butter up to room temperature (2 hours max)
Add to your stand mixer along with the vanilla
Slowly add the powdered sugar 1 cup at a time on low speed
If frosting appears to thick add 1 Tbsp Heavy Cream if too thin add 1/4 cup of additional powdered sugar
Place into the refrigerator and cover until your cake is cooled
Chill cake before frosting
This should yield enough frosting for two 8-inch cakes
Tip: You can make this frosting ahead of time and simply frost the day you make the cake. A cake with cream cheese frosting should stay in the refrigerator until about an hour before serving.
