Aloo Chana Chat (Potato and Chick Pea Chat)
Chat is a small dish. This Indian street food dish is served hot or cold. It can be considered an appetizer or a side dish. Chats are an amazing addition to any meal or gathering. Topped with a dollop of mint chutney and you have a burst of flavors that make your taste buds dance.

1 Can Opener
1 Food Proccesor
1 Saute Pan
1 Bowl
- 2 Potatoes
- 15 Oz Chickpeas
- 1 Tbs Ginger Root
- 1 Onion
- 1/2 Green Chili Pepper
- 3 Tbsp Lemon Juice
- 1 Tsp Red Kashmir Chili Powder
- 1 Tbsp Chat Masala
- Salt to Taste
- 2 Tbsp Olive Oil Or Ghee if not vegetarian
Boil the potatoes until a fork is inserted with ease
Set aside to cool
Drain and discard the water from a can of chick peas
Place the green chili pepper, the onion, lemon juice, and the fresh ginger in the food processor and blend until fine
Peel the cooled potatoes and slice into bite sized chunks
Place olive oil and or ghee into a frying pan and on medium high heat, add the potatoes and chick peas and sprinkle with the chili powder
Stir fry the potatoes and chick peas until they are a golden brown.
In a bowl toss the browned potato chick pea mixture with the blended pepper, ginger, onion mixture. Add the Chat Masala and salt to taste.
Serve with Mint Chutney on top or can be mixed in.

Chat Masala is a blend of spices that can be found in your local International grocery or look up individual spices to blend on your own.
